St Gerardine’s High Church Groups
Kirk Session The Kirk Session is responsible for the spiritual oversight of the Parish. Elders have been chosen from those members of the church who are considered to have the appropriate gifts and skills. Stewardship initiatives are regularly undertaken. Finance The main income comes from the giving of our members through Weekly Freewill Offerings, Open Plate and regular Standing Order payments. Congregational Board The Congregational Board is appointed from within the congregation and members of the congregation are invited to nominate individuals who are believed to have the skills and commitment to contribute to the management affairs of the Church, which consist of Finance, Fabric, Grounds, Social Pastoral (preparation for sacrament of Communion), most of which is done on a self-help basis. Board Members are appointed at the Stated Annual Meeting and serve for a period of three years after which they must seek re-election at the next Stated Annual Meeting. Guild An active and enthusiastic membership of around 24 which meets on Mondays from October to March. An interesting programme of speakers, projects and visits is enjoyed by all. Choir The Choir leads the weekly praise and is well supported by men and women. The music is mainly traditional at normal worship and more modern at the monthly family service. New hymns are introduced during normal worship. Members of the congregation are invited to join in to perform a Christmas Concert and any other events during the year. Bible Study Group A small group meets most Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm at the Manse.
